The Journey

Dr. Ghosh’s journey spans over three decades of faith, study and practice. What began in childhood—conducting pujas and being steeped in culture, spirituality and religion—grew into a lifelong pursuit. From advanced studies at Oxford and Chicago to his current role as Dean of Dharma Studies, each step has shaped his mission to bring ancient wisdom into everyday life.

The start of it all in India

At around eight years old, Abhishek’s leadership and devotion shone through as he gathered local children for a homemade rite honoring Ma Saraswati, the Hindu goddess of education and wisdom. With simple materials—flowers, candles and hand-painted images—he created a space of shared reverence and learning. That early act of community worship not only revealed his gift for bringing people together but also planted the seeds for a lifetime devoted to translating spiritual practice into everyday action.

Studying at Oxford University, UK

He completed an M.St. in Theology at the University of Oxford, where he immersed himself in critical analysis of sacred texts, engaged in rigorous archival research and debated complex doctrinal questions. This period sharpened his methodological discipline—combining philology, hermeneutics and comparative study—and laid the scholarly groundwork for his later doctoral work.

Doctoral Studies at University of Chicago, USA

He served on faculty at the Graham School (UChicago), Muhlenberg College and Grand Rapids University. Dr. Ghosh designed and taught courses in religion, philosophy and ethics, and also led classes at various yoga studios—explaining the foundational texts, philosophical roots, historical evolution and cultural context behind yoga practice. His emphasis on dialogical learning and personal mentorship helped cultivate a new generation of scholars and practitioners.
